1. What is Brave Heart Housing?

Brave Heart Housing is an independent housing program that provides dignified, affordable shared housing for veterans, individuals in recovery, domestic violence survivors, and those transitioning from homelessness or other life challenges. We believe everyone deserves a safe, supportive environment and a second chance to rebuild their lives.

2. Who can apply for housing?

We accept individuals who are:

  • Veterans

  • Recovering from addiction or reentry

  • Transitioning from homelessness

  • Survivors of domestic violence

  • Seniors or adults seeking independent, structured housing
    Applicants must be 18 years or older and able to live independently with minimal supervision.

3. How much does it cost to live in a Brave Heart Housing home?

Our rates are on a sliding scale depending on verifiable income, location and amenities. All utilities, Wi-Fi, laundry access, and furnishings are included.

One time non-refundable $300 community fee at time of move in.

4. What’s included in the monthly fee?

  • Fully furnished private or shared rooms

  • All utilities (water, gas, electric, Wi-Fi, trash)

  • On-site laundry

  • Weekly housekeeping and monthly deep cleaning

  • Supportive community environment

  • Access to resources and referrals for employment, counseling, and other services

5. Do you provide meals?

While our program does not include daily meals, all locations offer access to shared kitchen spaces for residents to cook their own meals. Some locations offer complimentary breakfast on Saturdays.

6. How do I apply for housing?

You can apply online using our Housing Application Form or by contacting our intake team. Once we receive your application, a representative will reach out within 48 hours to discuss availability and next steps.

7. What if there are no available beds right now?

If housing is at full capacity, you’ll be added to our Waitlist Program and notified as soon as a placement becomes available. Priority is given to veterans, referrals from caseworkers, and those in urgent transitional situations. Waitlist placement is not a guarantee of housing. Equal Housing Opportunity.

8. Do you accept referrals from case managers or agencies?

Yes. We work closely with social workers, shelters, hospitals, VA centers, and reentry programs to coordinate placements. Agencies can email referrals to Placements@bravehearthousing.com or complete our Referral Form online.

9. How long can residents stay?

We offer both short-term (30–90 days) and long-term housing options, depending on individual needs and progress toward independence. All program participants are month by month.

10. Is Brave Heart Housing a licensed group home?

We operate under local housing and zoning guidelines. Some locations are licensed supportive or transitional housing programs depending on the state. Our homes are designed to be safe, clean, and compliant with all local occupancy and safety standards.

11. Can residents receive mail or visitors?

Yes. Mail can be received at the property address. Visitors are permitted during designated hours and must respect house policies to ensure safety and comfort for all residents.

12. What support services are available?

We connect residents with:

  • Job readiness programs

  • Mental health and addiction recovery resources

  • Financial literacy and budgeting tools

  • Veteran benefits and community services

Our goal is to empower residents to transition successfully into permanent housing and self-sufficiency.

13. How can landlords or property owners partner with Brave Heart Housing?

We welcome partnerships with property owners who want reliable tenants and consistent rental income. Brave Heart Housing leases properties directly and manages the residents, ensuring timely payments and responsible care of each home.

14. How can I donate or support your mission?

You can support Brave Heart Housing by donating funds, sponsoring a resident, or partnering through your business or organization. Every contribution helps us provide safe housing and second chances for those in need.
